Team Part example regularity feature tree construction for the method published in “Constructing Regularity Feature Trees for Solid Models”.
Regularity Features: 88
Regularity Feature Tree depth: 5
The regularity feature tree decomposition for the Team Part is shown below. On the first decomposition level 29 edge-connected solids are produced, four of which need further decomposition. Three of the four are (a), (d) and (f), the fourth is the similar to (f). (j) shows the other simple edge-connected solids. Sub-part (a) leads to 8 negative regularity features at the next level in the tree as shown in (b), and results in an updated model (c). Sub-part (d) leads to 6 negative regularity features at the next level in the tree as shown in (e), and results in a block (f). Sub-part (g) leads to 5 negative regularity features at the next level in the tree as shown in (h), and results in another block (i). Some of the resulting regularity features are further decomposed but are not shown here due to its straight-forward nature of these cases. Overall this decomposition reveals the various blocks and cylinders this part is made of such that intended geometric regularities may be detected in the subsequent design intent detection steps.
